Arsenal Classic's : Arsenal 5 Inter Milan 1 - November 25 2003

In our series we will post memorable Arsenal Classics along with match highlights. Today it is the turn of  Arsenal 5 Inter Milan 1. As a world class Thierry Henry inspired Arsenal to a rout of Inter Milan and stun the San Siro crowd. The game was even more dramatic due to the fact they lost the first leg 3 0 at Highbury.

Thierry Henry was at his best on this day and you put any defender in front of him, he still would have scored. It was Henry’s best performance in his career as far as I could think of.

Henry opened up the scoring after a slick pass from Ashley Cole to make it 1-0. Soon Christian Vieri on the other end scored a deflected goal to make it 1-1 on the night an stays until half time.

During the opening few minutes of second half, Henry finds Freddie Ljungberg who waits and coolly slots it past Toldo to make it 2-1.

Third goal is the best you would have seen from Henry when he ran from this own half beats Zanetti and does a cool trick and unleash a shot on the far left to make it 3-1 for Arsenal.

Minutes later he sets up Ljungberg for his second making the scoreline 4-1. Minute later Robert Pires rounds off Toldo to make the scoreline 5-1 for Arsenal making it truly remarkable achievement for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Arsene Wenger "Not in my wildest dreams could we have predicted that sort of result"
